IHSM Volunteers

Mir Pace's International High School Mission (IHSM) programs are designed for high school students to look beyond the limitations and boundaries in which they live in order to open their hearts and minds to people and cultures radically different from their own. Through our IHSM volunteer programs, students will begin to understand and appreciate the problems and joys of living in a developing country, and how they will then integrate their experience into their lives back home.

Mir Pace doesn't ask that students have a special skill or even prior experience in humanitarian relief and sustainable development work. The projects to which we will send our students require exceptional volunteers possessing a desire to help rebuild lives with a selfless regard for the welfare of others.

Our IHSM program goals are for each of our volunteers to return home more appreciative of other cultures and aware of the personal benefits of helping others. Most returned IHSM volunteers will receive much more than they gave while serving in the host country. Becoming part of another culture will change the way they see the world, and more importantly, themselves.

Young people can make a positive difference in the world, and we are committed to encourage them to look inside themselves, to see what they have to offer, and to use their gifts to give back to the world.
