We continue our efforts to raise
much-needed funds in order that we may build and expand our programs, and we depend on your
generous support.
a primary school in Guatemala - The building exists, although funds are needed for repairs and to bring desks, school
supplies, and a full-time teacher.
a housing and educational facility for deaf and handicapped children (caused primarily by untreated
malaria) in Tanzania. The public schools do not allow children with special needs into
the classroom, therefore, we would like to establish a new facility that will provide care and education
to these very special children.

as possible, and please encourage everyone you know to match your donation! Since we began our IHSM programs, Mir Pace has been blessed with extraordinary volunteers, teens and adults alike, who come together in truly inspiring ways, each being remarkable examples of determination, courage, and tenacity. I have watched many of our young volunteers discover and unlock beautiful and meaningful gifts and talents. Time and again, I am left awed by how gifted our leaders have been in unlocking and fostering such discovery. In the spirit of overwhelming kindness and care, joy and laughter, our leaders have motivated and encouraged, while also awakening a sense of self-worth, belonging, teamwork, and leadership in our teens. We hope you will follow the "next" link at the bottom of this page and enjoy a collection of short reflections that express the value of a "Mir Pace" experience. Through the extraordinarily kind and generous heart of a long-time supporter of Mir Pace, we have recently moved into donated office space. Our new address is 100 Weymouth Street, Suite G-1, Rockland, MA 02370 (telephone and e-mail remain the same). We now have a place to call home. You are always welcome to drop in, say hello, and see first hand "behind the scenes" of our organization. |
4th Annual Paddle for Poverty© On Saturday, July 12, 2008, Mir Pace will hold its 4th Annual Paddle for Poverty kayak race (canoes and other paddle boats are also welcome!). This year, the event will take place at the Lincoln Maritime Center in beautiful Hingham Harbor! Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Volunteers are also needed! To learn more and to download a registration form, please click here. Mir Pace's Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointments of Patricia Keenan, Janet Peterson, and Andrew Wesson to its Board of Directors. Patti is Vice President for Development at YWCA Boston. With over 23 years in the field, Patti has raised funds for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, Brown University, the American Cancer Society, City Year, WGBH and, as a volunteer, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Patti and her family have been involved with Mir Pace since 2003 - two of her children, Alexandra and Walker Keenan, have completed a combined total of 6 IHSM programs. Janet is owner and operator of Java Jungle (a coffee shop here in Hull unmatched in products and service!). Prior to undertaking the very courageous endeavor of establishing her own business, Janet worked as health and safety program manager at State Street Corp. She and her husband Dave have been long-time friends of Mir Pace - as Paddle for Poverty sponsors and most recently, Dave joined us as a group leader in Tamahú, Guatemala. Janet is also a dedicated mother of two small boys, volunteers at the New England Wildlife Center and is a member of the Hull Nantasket Beach Chamber of Commerce. Andrew is the first former IHSM volunteer to join our Board of Directors! He has
participated in our IHSM programs since 2005. Andrew has also been instrumental in designing and implementing
fundraising and marketing materials for Mir Pace, as well as serving as a liaison between his student peers
and our organization. Andrew is a graduate of Sharon High School in Sharon, MA and is currently a business
student at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. We
look forward with great excitement to Andrew's participation on our Board during his college years and beyond!
