Hull, MA

Our very special thanks to everyone who came out to "paddle for poverty!"

Bright sunshine, calm waters, and a gentle breeze made for ideal race conditions and was a gift from heaven, as were our race participants, volunteers, sponsors, and friends.

Both the long and short course races went off without a hitch. In the short course, Justin Dausch maintained the lead throughout, followed closely behind by Craig and Caroline Comins (winners of the "inflatable division"). We knew at registration who would take the lead in the long course. We nicknamed them Shark 1 and Shark 2 (Adam Traina and Doug Randall). Sure enough, Sharks 1 and 2 crossed the finish line well ahead of the pack! Michael and Taryn Sacchitella came into view next, followed closely behind by our very own Terry Mullen! The long course (was it more than 3 miles??) was a challenge, but all enjoyed the competition and magnificent scenery.

At the conclusion of the races, trophies and prizes were awarded:

And last is never least! Prizes (including a gift certificate to Pier 44 Restaurant in Scituate, passes to Zoo New England, and a commemorative edition signed football from the New England Patriots) were awarded to our long and short course Tortoise Class.

Throughout the day, our friends from Java Jungle provided refreshments, and Alpaca Suri (a local Peruvian gift shop) offered beautiful handcrafted items for sale.

We wish to extend our deepest gratitude, however, to Mark Morris and Catunes. We made for what was probably the smallest audience the Catunes have ever performed in front of, but Mark and the guys played true to form - spirited and engerized! Thank you guys for your graciousness, for supporting us, and we hope to see you again next year!

Our sincere thanks again to everyone, and we look forward to seeing you next year!

Below are some pictures that capture the day.
